La Maline, the intercommunity cultural centre, is celebrating its tenth birthday. Based at La Couarde, la Maline has rapidly become the focal point for the island's cultural associations.

In the course of the year La Maline puts out around four dozen lively and varied shows, in dance, music, theatre, humour and even circus...
One show a week, in a theatre with 275 seats doesn't sound too spectacular until you hear that all of those seats are filled every time - 14000 ticket-paying spectators in 2003!
With about a thousand members, the ARDC (association rétaise pour le développement culturel) has succeeded in attracting audiences from way beyond the confines of the island.
Cinema lovers won't be disappointed either, La Maline proposes several films each year.
