CLASSIFICATION BY ACCOMODATION TYPE

For hotels, campsites, furnished holiday apartments and holiday complexes: The star classification is granted by the Prefecture according to national norms based on amenities, room size, furnishing, services and other such criteria. This classification is mandatory for all these categories apart from furnished apartments (seasonal), for which it is only recommended.
Classification pending : This means that the owner of the establishment has filed an application for classification to the competent Prefecture services regarding the category mentioned and that he (she) is waiting for the final decision.
HOTELCERT® : HOTELCERT certification is based upon commitments concerning the welcome, accommodation and
breakfast in the hotels.

THE LABEL AND HOW IT IS USED :

Most of the time, the label is in addition to the classification and makes it possible to qualify what is on offer. It can be national (Logis de France, Gites de France, Qualité France for camping) or local (Tables gourmandes for restaurants). It is the result of a voluntary decision by service providers to be associated with a group of their counterparts offering the same type of product or service, but who also want to increase the standing of their own products. The label is optional.

All campsites members of the charter ‘Quality Campsite’ commit themselves to offer their customers:

To apply and remain a member of ‘Quality Campsite’, the establishment should comply with a rigorous, regular and independent audit based upon 300 criteria. It is also subjected to an inspection visit every 3 years by professional auditors who pretend they are simple customers. With a campsite participating in the scheme ‘QUALITY CAMPSITE’, the holidaymaker is assured of services in accordance with his (her) wishes throughout our national territory.

A label assuring accessible holidays. In order to meet the needs of visitors with disabilities, tourist industry professionals in Charente-Maritime are involved in a quality scheme for welcoming, providing accessible environment and information to disabled people. With the label “Tourisme et Handicap”, guests with mobility impairment can get reliable information about accessibility to holiday and recreational places whatever their handicap: motor, visual, hearing or mental. The objective is to cover all tourist facilities in the short term. The label is specifically aimed at accommodations, restaurants, places of interest and attractions.
