The beaches in Les Portes-en-Ré, each one more beautiful than the last
Here's where you'll find the most beautiful beaches in the north of the island, the beaches that made Les Portes-en-Ré's reputation: Petit Bec beach, Le Lizay beach, Gros Jonc, La Loge, Les Trois Cailloux et, beyond the famous forest of Trousse Chemise, as featured in a well-known Charles Aznavour song, the equally famous Banc du Bûcheron, which reveals its entire length at low tide. This stretch of fine sand, frequented by boaters, is a natural attraction in its own right and extends for over 4.5km. It is a prized bathing site for families and is also popular with watersports fans, who go kitesurfing or windsurfing here. But watch out as the tide rises very rapidly!
The dunes are protected and the local plants are free to grow in this unspoilt landscape. Magnifique!
