Activities in Loix

Loix loves sport. Loix loves tennis. There are four clay courts in this artisan village, which are very popular with children and adults alike, beginners and seasoned athletes, in summer as in winter. The sports complex also houses two squash courts, the only ones on the Ile de Ré.

Loix loves water. Take a canoe trip down the Fier d’Ars with a guide who will take you into the heart of nature. Or you might choose the summer sailing school and try your hand at catamaran or windsurfing. Or you could go paddle-boarding, following a route recommended by the experts at Planète Sport et Loisirs.

Loix loves horses. Discover the thrill of horseriding under the watchful eye of Manu Bigarnet, a former member of the Zingaro troupe. Or go on a trip with Les Chevaux de Loix Horseriding Club.

Loix loves the air. Enjoy a bird's eye view of the Ile de Ré with a paramotor flight, or an introduction to model aircraft.

And after all that sport, go and visit L’Abeille de Ré, to learn all about the secret life of bees. Or take part in the Ile de Ré's only soap production workshop at Loix & Savons. Or visit Atelier Quillet, one of France's rare bookbinding workshops. Or just enjoy a game of boules on the church square, a national sport especially popular with the people of Loix.
