Activities and leisure in Saint-Clément-des-Baleines

Climb the 257 steps to the top of Les Baleines Lighthouse and look out over the ocean, which stretches as far as the eye can see. Once you're back down on the ground, go and visit the little lighthouse and beacon museum. Discover the individual characters of Le Gillieux, Le Chabot, La Tricherie, Le Godinand, Le Griveau, the areas that make up the village. There's nothing better than going on a bike ride through them. And if you love music, the Lighthouse Jazz Festival takes place in August and is an unmissable moment in the summer calendar of the Villageois, the nickname given to Saint-Clément-des-Baleines locals.
Lend a hand to the volunteers who look after the Mouffette fish sluice at the foot of the lighthouse. They rely on your kindness to ensure that this key part of the Ile de Ré's heritage survives. Meanwhile, Corinne Pony Club is perfect for children.
The newly-built dam is an excellent place to go for a walk: 1.9km next to the untamed ocean. Start at the lifeboat shelter and carry on to the other side of the dam, and you'll be dreaming of faraway lands across the sea.
