October 12 at 3 p.m. in the Vauban Room, documentary film about Ars during the German occupation, featuring testimonials from Casserons residents who lived through World War II.
Sabine Franel, the director, led this project, and around thirty witnesses agreed to share their memories. This initiative gave rise to the documentary film Ars à l'heure allemande (Ars under German rule).
Over the course of five years of interviews, numerous witnesses came forward. Little by little, flashes of memory returned, followed by specific recollections punctuated with anecdotes. To enrich this collective memory and provide historical context, film archives from the period were included, as well as old photos found by the inhabitants of Ars.
These deeply moving and realistic testimonies remind us of the importance of understanding our past in order to better comprehend the future. Several of the witnesses have since passed away. But all of them have contributed, forever, to enriching history.
