From 16 October to 27 November, the Community of Communes Heritage Department is organising seven guided tours to (re)discover elements of the heritage of the Île de Ré.
At 700 metres long, the Boutillon dyke is much more than just a protective structure: it is a living testimony to a long and ongoing battle against flooding. Explore this essential rampart and immerse yourself in its history, from its earliest constructions in the Middle Ages to modern maintenance and reinforcement techniques. Functioning, ecological role, cost... this tour sheds light on a heritage that is often overlooked but vital to our island.
