Ars-en-Ré is a commune whose origins date back to the 11th century, and it's not short of salt! As you stroll through the town, you'll discover its port, with the site of the old tide mill, its maritime traditions (with the evocation of the sardine canning factory), the old Tortillard railway station, the salt marshes and the salt refinery.
