The Jazz au Phare festival opens at the Java des Baleines with a concert by Boney Fields.
Prince used to say, ‘Real music by real musicians’. Like Prince, Chicago-born trumpeter and singer Boney Fields belongs to that generation of African-American artists born to master the stage. Brought up on Sunday gospel preaching, a fan of the funky, urban sound he helped create on the very streets of Chicago, Boney Fields is the heir to a long tradition, one that has never stopped renewing itself and opening up to influences without forgetting its fundamentals.
