In partnership with FEMA (La Rochelle Film Festival).
Since 2001, the La Rochelle Film Festival (FEMA) has been offering film workshops to around ten prisoners, under the successive sponsorship of several filmmakers. This project allows prisoners to collectively experience the film-making process and give free rein to their artistic talents. Around thirty films have already been produced, directed and screened.
In 2024 and 2025, the writing and film-making workshops were supervised by Sébastien Betbeder, in collaboration with two students from the EESI in Poitiers, a camera assistant and a professional actor.

Discover the two latest films in the presence of the director during this special evening:

L’ÉTERNITÉ

Six prisoners mysteriously find themselves in a forest from which they cannot escape. So, through unexpected detours, they try to kill time.

UNE TENTATIVE D’ÉVASION
2024 (0h32) • Documentary by Sébastien Betbeder
Sébastien Chassagne, an actor for film, theatre and television, leads a workshop at the Saint-Martin prison on the Île de Ré. Facing him are six inmates whose faces have been transformed by artificial intelligence, reliving scenes from their past, bringing dreams to life or inventing new stories.
