The message box is a symbol, but above all it is a moment of listening and sharing between children and adults.
Every year on 20 November, we celebrate the adoption of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. It is an important date! And yet, we know that despite the texts, the road to ensuring that these rights are respected in all spheres of our society remains fraught with obstacles.
Every year on 20 November, we celebrate the adoption of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. It's an important date! And yet, we know that despite the texts, the road to ensuring that these rights are respected in all spheres of our society remains fraught with obstacles.
So at Le Bocal, we thought this would be a good opportunity to bring children's right to express themselves freely back into the spotlight through a workshop.
With this activity, we have three (admittedly ambitious) objectives:
To promote every child's right to express their opinion (Article 12 of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child).
To encourage listening and dialogue between children, parents and carers.
To develop self-confidence and civic-mindedness in children.
What exactly will we do? We won't reveal everything, but the idea is that each child will be able to express:
What they would like to say to adults.
What they would change in their school, town or family.
❤️ What they like and would like to preserve.
✨ An idea for better respect for children's rights.
It's up to us adults to listen to and respect what they have to say!
We believe that there is no minimum age for expressing what you want, but it is of course easier to structure your thoughts as you grow older. The workshop is therefore open to all children, but younger children will need to be accompanied and helped by an adult to put what they want to share into form (drawings or words).
Advance registration required, free participation, open to all.
