This walk in Ars-en-Ré, labelled one of the ‘most beautiful villages in France’ and a ‘village of stone and water’, will allow you to discover five points of interest for children and adults alike: the playground, City Stadium and Skate Park near the marina, the enchanting Donin merry-go-round right next to the old salt refinery, and the children's playground in the town hall gardens.
- Guidebook with maps/step-by-stepDepart from the Welcome Office, turn left onto Rue du Hâvre (80 metres).
Turn left in front of the village hall, then follow the alleyway for 80 metres until you reach the junction with Rue Chanzy.
Cross the street and continue straight ahead on Rue des Bonnes Têtes for 200 metres and Rue des Salines for 50 metres.
Turn right, cross the pedestrian crossing and take Quai de La Pré.
Turn immediately left onto Prise des Salines and continue for 600 metres along the channel on the Promenade du Fier (gravel section).
Continue along Prise des Salines to the CNAR (Cercle Nautique d'Ars en Ré).
Return via Quai de La Pré, stopping off at the children's playground, boules court, City Stade and Skate park on the left, if you wish, and continue past the harbour master's office.
Continue straight ahead along Quai de La Pré (be careful of bicycles) for 550 metres. At the intersection, cross at the pedestrian crossing.
Turn right towards the Manège Enchanteur de Donin, located 50 metres away, for an optional stop. Behind the merry-go-round, turn left onto
Rue de Mouillebarbe and continue for 50 metres.
Turn right onto Rue de la Raffinerie and continue for 200 metres.
At the first crossroads, turn left into Venelle du Figuier and follow it for 100 metres.
Turn right, join Rue des Bonnes Têtes and follow it for 80 metres until you reach the junction with Rue de Chanzy.
Cross Rue de Chanzy and continue straight ahead for 30 metres, then turn right and follow the small passageway for 20 metres.
Turn left towards the town hall gardens, where there is a children's playground (optional stop).
Continue straight ahead for 50 metres, taking the ramp to complete your route in front of the Ars en Ré reception office.
