The LPO's nature outings, discovering the island's biodiversity!
Throughout the year, come and take part in a nature outing organised by the LPO. Accompanied by a nature guide, you'll discover the natural riches of our region. Several options are available!
Given their duration and the need to remain calm, these activities are not recommended for young children. Take a look at our Nature Walks for all ages!
Nature Escapes:
With over 100 sensitive natural areas (ENS), Charente-Maritime is bursting with natural treasures and breathtaking landscapes. Treat yourself to a moment of escape, a natural interlude. Come and explore the nature escapes. On the Ile de Ré, the LPO invites you to discover some of the department's remarkable sites.
Duration: 2 hours. Full price: €8 / Reduced price: €5 / Free for children under 5.
Nature walks (for families with children):
Discover the birds and plants of the marshes near the Maison du Fier. One of the first approaches to nature recommended for families with children.
Duration: 1 hour. Full price: €5 / Reduced price: 4€
Bird and Nature Outings: The Portes-en-Ré nature reserve / The Lasse at Loix / The Ars marsh / The La Couarde marsh
Duration: 2h30. Full price: €10 / Reduced price: €6 / Free for children under 5.
Savage Dawn:
Discover the birds (identification, way of life, migration), nature and landscapes of the marshes. On the edge of the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve, in the marshes of Ars, Loix or La Couarde.
Nature at dusk:
At the end of the day, nature regains its calm. Some animals are more discreet, others are more active.
(Bring a torch and warm clothing).
The Nature Reserve in winter:
During the ‘bad season’, large numbers of birds from northern Europe come to the Ile de Ré to find food. Brent geese, sandpipers, curlews, plovers, turnstones and spoonbills take refuge in the Lilleau des Niges nature reserve at high tide.
Goose and Co’ outings are also scheduled in winter to discover one of the most emblematic birds of the season: the Brant, which has flown in from Siberia!
Sainte-Marie:
In partnership with the A.N.C.R.E. Maritaise: nature through the countryside, the seaside and the dunes of Sainte-Marie.
Duration: between 2h and 2h30. Full price: €10 / Reduced price: €6 / Free for children under 5.
Discovery of a ringing station:
All over France, and particularly on the Ile de Ré, ornithologists ring birds under the aegis of the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, in order to study their movements. Come and discover this activity in the secrecy of a ringing station in the company of LPO instructors.
Please note: depending on weather conditions, ringing sessions may be cancelled on the morning of the event.
Duration: 1 hour. Single price: €5
Nature outings by bike:
Accompanied by an LPO guide, set off to meet birds and nature. With frequent stops to take in the naturalist encounters.
For the over 15s.
Bring your own bike (conventional or electric).
Duration: 3 hours. Single price: €20
