Car, train, bus, bike - choose how to get to Ile de Ré.

Since 1st January 2012, an environmental tax is payable for crossing the bridge. The rate varies depending on the period and vehicle size. If you are planning to cross more than once, you can buy a pass which reduces the cost of each passage. The office is open every day from 5.30am to 9.30pm.

Crossing is €3 for two-wheel motorised vehicles.

Trains stop at La Rochelle station from Nantes, Bordeaux and Paris-Montparnasse with the high-speed railway service: TGV Atlantique.

Note: the right lane when leaving the toll ages is reserved for bikes, and the left lane is reserved for pedestrians. Bridge crossing is free for cyclists and pedestrians.

From Niort via the Vélo Francette 90km (to La Rochelle) cycling route; from Roscoff or Hendaye via the Vélodyssée cycling route which follows the Atlantic coast.

The KEOLIS-LES MOUETTES bus service provides transport from the the La Rochelle train station to the island. The bus service operates in all Ile de Ré villages all year round. Journey time varies from 25 minutes to arrive at Rivedoux-Plage, the first village after the bridge, to 2 hours to arrive at Portes-en-Ré at the other end of the island. In summer, Ré Express coaches provide transport from the station to the place of your choice. The journey is quicker. No bookings required.

The RTCR public transport authority provides a crossing during July and August only, with a single stop at Sablanceaux at the foot of the bridge on the island.

For day trips, an electric shuttle crosses the bridge every day from June to September for €1 per person aged over 5. Frequency varies from every 30 minutes to every 10 minutes depending on the time of day. Free car parks are available on each side of the bridge.

Ars-en-Ré, La Flotte, Rivedoux-Plage and Saint-Martin-de-Ré offer berths for visitors. It is necessary to contact the harbour office before arrival, unless in the event of an emergency.
