The Harmony's Swing big band from Rennes welcomes 2 extraordinary musicians for two unusual concerts based on American jazz standards.

For its summer project, "Circuits Courts", the Harmony's Swing big band is inviting professional musicians with whom it feels close in more ways than one. Some of them are friends, like Florian Bonnin, who has never hesitated to join the trumpet section of the Harmonie de la Flotte when he's on holiday, and Nicolas Naudet, a long-time friend of Pascal Rousseau's on clarinet. The concert in La Flotte will also feature a surprise guest: Brian Carter, an American drummer from New Rochelle invited by the Classic Jazz Club de la Rochelle!

The different pieces in the repertoire, and the energy and rhythms that these pieces unfold, are sources of inspiration and improvisation shared by the guest musicians.

Florian Bonnin is a young composer and trumpeter. A graduate of the CRR in Trumpet, Analysis and Writing, he explored improvised music by joining the Centre Musical Didier Lockwood (CMDL). Lead trumpet since 2021 with the Musique de l'Air jazz ensemble, he also holds this position with the Orchestre National de Jazz (ONJ) des jeunes. He also composes and arranges film music.

Nicolas Naudet composes and plays clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone, diatonic harmonica, vocals and cigar box guitar. He has been putting his diverse skills to work in theatre, street performance and contemporary music for over 25 years: La compagnie du Théâtre du Frêne, Comédien et Compagnie la Bollywood fanfare, Les Experts, les Doodle Brothers, G!RAFE, NhoG et WE SHOT, Malo...

(to be confirmed) Brian Carter has been chosen and invited to represent his home town in La Rochelle as part of the twinning arrangement between the two cities. The aim is to share the spirit of jazz and build a musical link between the two sides of the Atlantic in 20 performances since 2007. The Brian Carter Quartet was formed in 1998 by Brian Carter, an accomplished drummerleader from the New York area. A composer and teacher, he is also director of the New Rochelle Jazz Festival.

For these exceptional concerts, the musicians will be conducted by Pascal Rousseau. Harmony's Swing is an offshoot of the Harmonie de la Flotte, and brings together around twenty musicians from the Ile de Ré and La Rochelle areas, regularly inviting international soloists to work in depth with local musicians.
