Exposition – Douceur animale

Michel Bassompierre is one of the most important artists in contemporary animal sculpture. His work "Douceur animale" has travelled all over the world, letting its bestiary of marble and bronze escape to the four corners of the globe, before finally settling in the streets of the capital of the Reims, Saint-Martin-de-Ré, from 4 April to 07 november

These peaceful animals, which seem to be caught in the intimacy of their lives, are embodied in bronze or Carrara marble in accordance with the traditional codes of sculpture.

Immerse yourself in the gentle, sensitive world of bears, horses, gorillas and elephants, emblematic representatives of species in danger of extinction.

Pay a visit to the 5 animal sculptures in emblematic locations in the village: on the harbour, the ramparts, the church forecourt and avenue Bouthillier.
