Placed under the theme of wind, the 13th Festival d’Arts Actuels highlights the work of guest of honor artist Rémi Polack. His work is essentially focused on aerial dynamics; the desire to see the world from a certain distance, to have a broader, colder but also more peaceful vision.

Remi Polack took possession of the place to install a cloud of angels chased from a protected world. He offers installations in an expressionist consonance, sketches in movement, in volume. His sketches are the quest for fleeting images, for emotions which “pass like a film and leave only a retinal memory, an unfinished statement, an astonishing and ephemeral moment, readable in a gesture, in a shadow, in a counter -day: it is a question of not closing the imagination with fixed images but of opening up a possibility.”

Rémi Polack's aerial work is an invitation to detachment, to lightness. He designs expressionist entities that struggle in this quest, ascending or floating in space. His work invites us into an imaginary place from where we would perceive our activity with such a great distance that we could understand its meaning.

Visual artist, more precisely sculptor, Rémi Polack, has worked since 1995 for public spaces, most often in the form of ephemeral interventions. Working both in La Rochelle and internationally, he takes over an urban space like an acrobat, with the energy of a poet. His works form above all a permanent spectacle for pleasure. Rémi Polack’s sculptures want to “change the way we see our street, our square, our neighborhood, to make us happy.”
