La Maison de la Dune

  • La Maison de la Dune is set in a remarkable site, on the top of the dune, to the west of the beach of Petit Bec. It overlooks Conche des Baleines. It is a former forest house built in 1852 and renovated in 2009. It used to be a shelter for the employees of the Forests and Waters Office.

  • The Maison de la Dune features a museography on the ecosystem of the dune and its flora and fauna. It houses an interpretation centre for the dune and the Lizay forest.

    Several panels inside the Maison de la Dune explain the fragile rampart formed by the dune against the erosion that threatens it, the role of the sea dune, the white dune, the grey dune and the wooded dune, and the plants of the dunes and the forest. A botanical trail around the Maison de la Dune allows visitors to name...

    > Open: from 2 July to 31 August every Tuesday from 11am to 12pm and from 4pm to 7pm.
    Admission to the site is free.
