Maison Phare de Trousse Chemise

Museum ,  Sciences and technology ,  Natural sciences ,  Private museum ,  Eco-museum in Les Portes-en-Ré
  • It was in 1875 that the fire of this flagship house, the last in Charente-Maritime, was finally lit to meet the needs of access to the proud of Ars.

  • Nestling in the Trousse Chemise woods, the Maison-Phare was built to ensure safe navigation on the Fier d'Ars thanks to a lantern visible for up to 20km. It was backed up by a downstream light located 230m away near the access road to the beach.
Now restored by the Association pour la Protection du Petit Patrimoine des Portes-en-Ré (A4P), it houses semi-permanent exhibitions on climate, the ocean and coastal conservation.

Open: from 3 July to 31 August, Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm...
